Just For Today

SAFETY PLAN FOR EACH DAY

Each day, I can create a specific safety plan for my day that is relevant to my planned activities for the day.

If I am going to be around people, I especially need a safety plan, because my chances of getting activated and/or dysregulated go up whenever I am around other people.

Examples of Specific Safety Plans:

I'm going to meet friends for lunch. If I get dysregulated by a dysregulated person or get activated by something someone says or does, I will...

  1. Change Location (go the to restroom, step outside, sit in my car)

  2. Look around me and confirm there are no actual threats in my immediate environment

  3. Do some Havening (Safe, Connected, Loved)

  4. Smell something nice

  5. Leave if I need to

  6. Do a neutralizing technique

I'm going to grocery store. If I get dysregulated by a dysregulated person or get activated by something someone says or does, I will...

  1. Change Location (find a quiet aisle)

  2. Look around me and confirm there are no actual threats in my immediate environment

  3. Do some Havening (Safe, Connected, Loved)

  4. Smell something nice

  5. Leave if I need to

  6. Do a neutralizing technique

I'm going to church. If I get dysregulated by a dysregulated person or get activated by something someone says or does, I will...

  1. Change Location (go the to restroom, step outside, sit in my car)

  2. Look around me and confirm there are no actual threats in my immediate environment

  3. Do some Havening (Safe, Connected, Loved)

  4. Smell something nice

  5. Leave if I need to

  6. Call a Safe Person who can help me feel grounded again

  7. Do a neutralizing technique

I'm going to a meeting. If I get dysregulated by a dysregulated person or get activated by something someone says or does or the sound of someone's voice, I will...

  1. Change Location (go the to restroom, step outside, sit in my car, mute & put the phone/screen down for 3 minutes)

  2. Look around me and confirm there are no actual threats in my immediate environment

  3. Do some Havening (Safe, Connected, Loved)

  4. Smell something nice

  5. Leave if I need to

  6. Call a Safe Person who can help me feel grounded again

  7. Do a neutralizing technique

I'm going to move to a new home tomorrow.

  1. Prepare all 3 meals for tomorrow in advance, so I won't snap at the people helping me because my blood sugar is low.

  2. Have a few snacks on hand for myself and others in case meals get delayed.

  3. Write a safety plan list on a small piece of paper in case I or someone else does get dysregulated.

    • Change Location (step away for a few minutes)

    • Look around me and confirm there are no actual threats in my immediate environment

    • Do some Havening (Safe, Connected, Loved)

    • Smell something nice

    • Do a neutralizing technique
